..Well, I went out about 3 AM last Thursday morning to see what kind of show the Geminid meteor shower would put on. Light pollution is a problem here in central Florida but the Moon had not yet risen so I was hopeful.
After my eyes adapted to the dark, I saw one fairly soon. It was quick and not particularly bright. The radiant was pretty much over my head so I dragged a chair out on to the pool deck, sat down and let my head hang back.
As my eyes continued to adjust, I started seeing them more often. After about 20 minutes, I had seen 10 of them. The last one I saw was by far the brightest and longest-lasting so I took that to mean it was time to go back to bed.
I had intended to set up my camera on a time exposure but didn't manage to get myself that organized...maybe next time.
